Interestingly, the Eagle/WaA135 marks are generally 'right side up' on the early phosphate pistols but 'upside down' on the later pistols. These phosphated pistols are quite rare today and, with Eagle/WaA135 acceptance, are highly desirable to military collectors. The Mauser phosphate finish is variable in color, from a dark grey to an almost green color. parkerizing finish used on most M-1 rifles, M-1 Carbines and M1911 pistols. The very last pistols, in the #949,500 to #952,000 range, were finished with Mauser's phosphate finish, somewhat similar to the U.S. Beginning in the late #940,000 range some pistols were given black plastic grip panels. I will probably stick to stones.The last variation, of some 32,000 intermittently numbered pistols in a serial number range of about #886,000 to #952,000, has the three-line device on the left side of the slide and bears an Eagle/WaA135 acceptance and the Eagle/N proofs.
Juneau is a Capital City full of lawyers and an abundance of left wing tree hugger/bear lovers populate the town.īesides, I get a special satisfaction thunking a bear with a rock. I would be required to fill out endless forms, maybe be fined, and then would be required to skin out the bear and turn the hide over to the Alaska Dept of Game. If I defended myself and killed a bear I would have to put up with the local bear experts that are embedded in the city/state bureaucracy. The experts also explain that we live in what used to be the bears home so we should be able to share the space with the bears.
The local experts told us to put our garbage in our freezers so it wont attract the bears. Several times early in the am on my way to work I have had to clean up after the bears spread our garbage all over the road on garbage pick up morning. The local bear experts called it bear murder. A local bow hunter (probably the dad of one of the children) eliminated the menace. Several years ago bears were menacing children at a school bus stop. The local bear experts stated that the bear was as scared as the lady. Several years ago a woman jogger was pulled down by a black bear.
